Quality Improvement Director
This highly regarded Central California Coast hospital is seeking a Quality Improvement Director for an exceptional opportunity to lead a growing Quality Management department focused on patient safety, performance improvement, and meaningful clinical outcomes. The Quality Improvement Director will step into a highly visible leadership role supporting a mission-driven organization that continues to invest heavily in quality, safety, and operational excellence. A current CPHQ certification, or the ability to obtain it within one year, is required for this opportunity.
The Quality Improvement Director will join a 190+ bed acute care hospital recognized as a High Performing facility and awarded an “A” Leapfrog Safety Grade for more than a decade consecutively. This nonprofit healthcare organization has also earned CMS 5-Star recognition and continues to expand quality initiatives that directly impact underserved and diverse patient populations throughout the region. The Quality Improvement Director will become part of an organization known for strong physician collaboration, progressive leadership, and a genuine commitment to patient-centered care.
The Quality Improvement Director reports directly to the VP of Quality and Risk Management and will partner closely with executive leadership, medical staff leadership, nursing leadership, accreditation teams, and department directors across the organization. The Quality Improvement Director will oversee a close-knit team of approximately 7 FTEs while helping shape organizational strategy surrounding quality outcomes, regulatory readiness, and patient safety culture. This role also maintains strong visibility with board committees and interdisciplinary performance improvement teams throughout the hospital.
The Quality Improvement Director will lead a growing Quality Management department supporting organization-wide quality initiatives, regulatory compliance efforts, patient safety programs, and data-driven performance improvement activities. The Quality Improvement Director will work alongside experienced clinical leaders, collaborative physicians, and dedicated support teams in an environment that balances professionalism with approachability. With a broad scope spanning inpatient quality measures, patient safety events, accreditation readiness, and public reporting initiatives, this department continues to play an increasingly influential role throughout the hospital.
The Quality Improvement Director will oversee performance improvement programs designed to strengthen patient outcomes, improve regulatory compliance, and support strategic organizational goals. Responsibilities for the Quality Improvement Director include leading quality initiatives tied to CMS, Joint Commission, Leapfrog, Vizient, and other national benchmarking programs while also guiding teams through process improvement methodologies and patient safety event reviews. The Quality Improvement Director will partner with operational and clinical leaders on education, data analysis, quality metrics, physician collaboration, and long-term improvement planning, while also supporting departmental operations including staffing, resource management, and program development.
