Director of Quality
For an accomplished healthcare quality leader ready to shape strategy at the enterprise level, this is a compelling opportunity to become the Director of Quality for a community-focused hospital in Southern California’s mountain region. The mandate is broad and visible: strengthen safety, performance, regulatory readiness, and accountability while influencing how quality is embedded across clinical and operational decision-making.
The healthcare organization offers an environment where experienced leaders can work closely with executives, physicians, nursing, and ancillary teams without layers of unnecessary complexity. A collaborative culture supports clinician autonomy, thoughtful onboarding, stable working relationships, and direct access to decision-makers. For a leader seeking meaningful scope and long-term advancement, the position provides strategic visibility and professional growth within a setting where individual leadership has a tangible effect.
Leading Quality Improvement and Regulatory Compliance, the Director of Quality will hold operational ownership for hospital-wide quality leadership, regulatory compliance oversight, patient safety initiatives, risk management, and performance improvement programs. Day-to-day priorities include quality data reporting, root cause analysis, patient experience improvement, regulatory survey preparation, policy development, and oversight of the quality committee. This leader will coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration across Quality Management, Clinical Quality, Quality Assurance, Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, and Risk Management while maintaining productive physician partnerships and responsive workflows. The role offers substantial decision-making authority, supported by executive leadership collaboration and a patient care environment that values disciplined follow-through; CPHQ certification is preferred.
Working in close partnership with the executive team, this leader will translate organizational goals into measurable quality and safety priorities. Relationships with medical staff, nursing leadership, department directors, and ancillary services will be central to advancing standards, strengthening staff development, and resolving cross-functional performance concerns. The successful candidate will bring credibility, sound judgment, and the ability to move comfortably between board-level reporting and frontline engagement, making quality improvement a shared operational responsibility rather than a siloed function.
Life in the Southern California Mountains offers a distinctive alternative to the pace of the region’s larger metropolitan centers. Residents enjoy four-season scenery, hiking, biking, lake activities, winter recreation, and close-knit communities, while remaining within reach of broader dining, cultural, and travel options. The area can be especially appealing to professionals seeking greater access to nature and a more relaxed daily rhythm, with family-friendly neighborhoods and a strong sense of community. 🏔️
