Director of Surgical Services
An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced perioperative nurse to lead Surgical Services at a rural hospital in New Mexico. This Director will oversee a close-knit team while helping shape the future of surgical care in a community-focused organization. The department has 4 operating rooms and 35 direct reports. 🏥
The Director of Surgical Services will provide operational and clinical leadership across the department. This includes overseeing staffing, scheduling, patient safety, quality initiatives, regulatory readiness, and daily operations. The Director will also manage department budgets and productivity while supporting long-term capital planning.
The surgical department offers a diverse range of procedures including Orthopedics, Urology, General Surgery, and OB/GYN. The organization is also actively expanding its services. An ENT service line was recently opened, creating an opportunity for this leader to help develop new programs and grow Surgical Services.
This role works closely with the CNO, surgeons, nursing leadership, and hospital administration. The Director will support staff development and competency while fostering strong physician and employee relationships. This leader will also participate in strategic planning and serve as a key liaison between Surgical Services and other clinical departments.
Qualified candidates should have a current New Mexico or multistate RN license along with CPR and ACLS. A BSN and CNOR are preferred. Candidates should have at least 5 years of progressive perioperative nursing experience. Three years of nursing management experience is preferred.
