Operating Room Nurse Manager

Taking on the Nurse Manager Perioperative Services role means joining a 150-bed, Joint Commission-accredited, stroke-certified hospital. The hospital can receive transfers by helicopter, although it is not designated as a trauma center. The inpatient Surgical Services department includes 7 operating rooms, more than 30 FTEs, and approximately 30 cases per day. Major service lines include high-volume endoscopy, total joint procedures, integrated cath lab services, interventional radiology, an advanced open-heart program, and a broad range of general surgeries. The Nurse Manager of the Operating Room will oversee efficient daily operations, support the precise execution of the surgical schedule, and help ensure exceptional perioperative and recovery care. This leader will also manage and coordinate multidisciplinary inpatient surgical and procedural services across the department.

Reporting to the Director of Surgical Services, the RN Manager OR will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, technologists, imaging specialists, and other members of a high-performing perioperative team. This frontline leader will provide clear structure and direction, conduct daily huddles, mentor and precept staff, and hold team members accountable for clinical, operational, and service expectations. The Nurse Manager will align staffing and competencies with the changing case mix while fostering a culture of safety, inclusion, teamwork, and professional excellence.

The ideal candidate will bring strong operational leadership and the ability to improve productivity, staffing, workflow, and team performance in a fast-paced surgical environment. Key priorities will include maintaining regulatory readiness, improving supply and instrument processes, reinforcing collaboration with surgeons and anesthesia, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. The Nurse Manager Surgery will maintain productivity boards, track key performance indicators, identify performance trends, and help the department achieve measurable quality, efficiency, and patient-safety goals.
