The Director of Progressive Care and Med-Surg will lead the medical-surgical and Intermediate Medical Unit service lines, including adult acute care, step-down, progressive care, telemetry, and higher-acuity observation operations. This role provides Med-Surg and IMU leadership, oversight of two inpatient service lines, strong executive visibility, staffing and team development, budget ownership, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, direct impact on patient care, and a community-focused environment. The Med-Surg/IMU Nursing Director will guide clinical standards, workforce planning, performance improvement, regulatory readiness, patient throughput, and the consistent delivery of safe, efficient nursing care.

Reporting to a senior nursing executive, the Nurse Director of Acute Care will receive support from hospital leadership, nursing supervisors, department managers, educators, physicians, and operational partners. Responsibilities include mentoring friendly nurses, building an accountable and inclusive workplace, supporting recruitment and retention, monitoring clinical and financial performance, and strengthening collaboration across pharmacy, rehabilitation, case management, social services, quality, and medical staff teams. The Inpatient Nursing Director will serve as a trusted resource for a diverse group of healthcare professionals while empowering frontline staff and developing future nursing leaders.
