The Senior Lactation Consultant will practice within a 275+ bed acute care hospital offering comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, emergency, surgical, and specialty services. The Mother/Baby nursing unit consists of 25 private suite and provides compassionate care, lactation education, and evidence-based support throughout the postpartum experience. A full-time day schedule is available, with Monday through Friday hours that may vary according to patient and program needs. This dynamic acute care environment offers the resources, clinical variety, and professional visibility needed to advance a high-impact breastfeeding and lactation program.
Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the Lead Lactation Consultant will collaborate with friendly nurses, physicians, administrators, fellow lactation specialists, and a diverse team of healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include providing inpatient and outpatient lactation care, organizing education classes, developing staff orientation and competency programs, and serving as a trusted resource for families and clinicians. The role also oversees human donor milk compliance, breastfeeding quality data, performance improvement activities, and the maintenance of Baby-Friendly practices and standards. Qualified candidates will hold a BSN, active New York RN registration, IBCLC certification, BLS, NRP, and ACLS credentials, plus approximately one year or more of relevant nursing experience.
