A respected specialty hospital in the Pennsylvania region is seeking an experienced Director of Inpatient Pharmacy RPH to lead a high-performing pharmacy department dedicated to caring for medically complex patients recovering from critical illness. The Director of Inpatient Pharmacy RPH will join a nationally recognized healthcare organization specializing in post-ICU recovery and long-term acute care. Caring for patients who require extended hospitalization and advanced medical management, the hospital provides a unique clinical environment where pharmacy leadership plays a vital role in medication safety, interdisciplinary collaboration, and quality improvement. Reporting directly to the hospital's executive leadership team, the Director of Pharmacy will oversee every aspect of pharmacy operations, including clinical services, regulatory compliance, departmental administration, budgeting, staffing, and strategic planning. The Director will partner closely with physicians, nursing leadership, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation services, infection prevention, and case management to ensure safe, evidence-based medication practices while maintaining compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory standards.
The Director of Pharmacy role offers the opportunity to shape pharmacy practice by developing and expanding clinical initiatives that improve patient care. Areas of focus may include pharmacokinetic dosing, medication therapy monitoring, antimicrobial stewardship, pain management, nutrition support, adverse drug reaction surveillance, medication safety, and quality improvement programs. The Director will also lead staff development through mentoring, education, and ongoing professional training while fostering a culture centered on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualified candidates will have at least three years of recent hospital pharmacy experience and hold a current pharmacist license or be eligible for licensure in the practicing state. Leadership experience within an inpatient hospital pharmacy is preferred. Candidates with a PharmD, completion of a hospital pharmacy residency (PGY1/PGY2), an advanced degree, or board certification (BCPS or equivalent) are strongly encouraged to apply.
