Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) The RN Director Surgical Services will manage all aspects of the Surgical unit. The Nursing Director will advocate for and allocate all available resources to promote an efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate atmosphere for all. He/she will promote a collaborative approach to nursing so that there is shared decision-making and autonomy throughout the unit. This will be accomplished through exerting their professional input in executive decisions, while keeping the Surgical Services department well informed. 

The RN Director Surgical Services will provide clinical and administrative leadership and expertise. They will be responsible for ensuring that there is clear communication between the Physicians / Surgeons and the nursing staff so that the entire department can operate in an organized and safe manner. They will be responsible for all financial aspects of the surgical service line so as to keep the department fully functional while remaining on budget. The director will also be in constant communication with other units so that patients can move seamlessly through their health care experience while at the hospital, in a safe and organized manner.
