The Cardiac Surgical ICU Nurse will practice within a small, community-focused rural hospital system while caring for medical, surgical, and cardiovascular patients requiring advanced monitoring. The CVICU Nurse will operate advanced equipment, including A-lines, invasive and central lines, multiple IV pumps, balloon pumps, Impella devices, ventilatory support systems, chest tubes, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy equipment. Candidates must be graduates of an accredited RN nursing program and have current Montana RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, advanced medical-surgical experience, and recent critical care nursing experience that includes cardiovascular surgery. One to two years of Cardiac Surgical ICU experience is strongly preferred, as are Impella, cardiac balloon pump, CRRT, EPNC, and TNCC experience or certification; PALS must be completed within six months of hire and renewed as required.

Reporting to the Charge Nurse, the CVICU Nurse receives strong clinical and operational support. The Cardiovascular Critical Care RN works alongside friendly nurses and a diverse healthcare team that includes RNs, LPNs, CNAs, housekeeping staff, dietary staff, and medical providers. Responsibilities include assessing patients, implementing established policies and procedures with minimal supervision, and delivering direct care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning. The Cardiac ICU Registered Nurse also serves as a clinical leader, assists with staff precepting, and provides direction to members of the interdisciplinary support team. Employment offers for the CVICU Nurse are contingent upon successful completion of criminal background, drug, health, and immunization screenings.
