Within the Laboratory, the Assistant Laboratory Manager will guide a modern clinical lab spanning core chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, immunoassay, microbiology, transfusion services, POCT, and specimen processing. This role serves a 25+ bed hospital grounded in community-focused care. As a leader in this diagnostics department and pathology services hub, the Assistant Laboratory Manager will advance quality assurance, proficiency testing, and regulatory readiness for CLIA and accreditation surveys, optimize the LIS and middleware, and help shape a nimble service line that supports inpatient, ED, surgical, and ambulatory settings across Southern Arizona.

Reporting to the Laboratory Director and collaborating closely with a pathologist and hospital leadership, the Assistant Laboratory Manager will receive strong administrative support and day-to-day resources to supervise MLS/MLT and phlebotomy teams, align staffing and scheduling, coach performance, standardize SOPs, champion infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship interfaces, and coordinate with friendly nurses and a diverse healthcare professional team across emergency, perioperative, and inpatient units. In this capacity, the Assistant Laboratory Manager models Just Culture principles, leads root-cause analysis and continuous improvement, and remains ready to provide bench coverage to keep turnaround times exceptional and patient care seamless.
