The Infection Prevention unit—also known as Infection Control or an IPC program—delivers enterprise-grade surveillance, outbreak management, construction risk mitigation, water safety oversight, device-associated infection reduction (CLABSI, CAUTI, VAE), SSI prevention, hand hygiene advancement, and front-line education; built around a collaborative team of CIC-certified professionals, data analysts, and clinical educators, it operates within a nearly 400-bed acute care hospital located within an hour of New York City, partnered with a large regional healthcare network, offers inpatient and outpatient award winning patient care services with a community feel, positioning an Infection Prevention Manager or Assistant Director Infection Prevention to drive measurable results across inpatient, outpatient, perioperative, and ambulatory settings.
Reporting to a Director of Infection Prevention or a Chief Quality/Safety leader, the Manager Infection Control will partner closely with the CMO, CNO, ID physicians, Lab Services, Facilities, EVS, Perioperative leadership, and the Quality/Patient Safety councils; supported by advanced protocols, clear order sets, and strong interdisciplinary teamwork, responsibilities include NHSN reporting and analytics, CDC/APIC-aligned policy development, risk assessments, EMR-driven surveillance automation, leadership of PI projects, construction ICRA, device and procedure bundle reliability, rounding and coaching, competency-based education, and outbreak response, all within a culture known for friendly nurses, skilled techs, compassionate providers, and a diverse team that values Just Culture, transparency, and clinician well-being for the Assistant Director Infection Prevention to thrive.
