Reporting to the Respiratory Therapy Manager, the Acute Care RRT Navigator partners with friendly nurses and a diverse team of physicians, APPs, pharmacists, case managers, and social work to deliver comprehensive COPD education using written materials and visual aids. Coordinate referrals to pulmonary rehab and pulmonary function testing; serve as a liaison to clinical teams for optimal length of stay and safe discharge planning; and conduct post-discharge calls to reinforce action plans, medication adherence, and follow-up. The Acute Care RRT Navigator teaches lung anatomy and physiology, COPD pathophysiology, medication classes and patient-specific regimens, recognizing exacerbations versus baseline changes, exercise and pulmonary rehab, smoking cessation, oxygen and home equipment, and COPD-focused nutrition, and also performs the full scope of inpatient and outpatient Respiratory Therapy across the lifespan. Individuals earning quick interviews have graduated from an AMA-approved program, have an active NYS Respiratory Care License, and are RRT credentialed. Credentials such as AARC COPD Educator and Tobacco Cessation Specialist are preferred.
