Offering a wide array of surgical services, from ENT and Plastic, to Thoracic and Abdominal, to Vascular and Neurosurgical, this fully equipped 16 Operating Room department is capable of handling just about anything. The Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist will bring an incredible amount of knowledge and experience to complex patient care scenarios and will support the ongoing clinical education and practice advancement for this tight-knit family unit.
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Education and Nursing Practice, the Surgical Services CNS will focus primarily on improving clinical practice in the large Perioperative Services Department. Working in close collaboration with the Director of Perioperative, a CNOR Surgical Services Department Manager, OR Supervisors, and CPAN Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Supervisors, the CNS will play an integral role in supporting education and patient care.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist for Surgical Services will have an important role to play in the Perioperative Services Unit, as well as the Education Team for the Medical Center. Using health system and hospital policy, along with evidence-based best practice guidelines, you’ll develop and execute effective education programs throughout the Perioperative Services Department. This means that the CNS will work directly with staff members, unit leaders, hospital leadership, and patients / families to ensure that interdisciplinary programs are created and implemented to enrich each stakeholder’s knowledge and confidence.
