This state-of-the-art hospital, seeks an experienced full-time Nurse Director to lead its team of Operating Room professionals. Honored by the community for its commitment to public health, and awarded by the state for is advancements in Stroke Care and High Quality Patient Care, this Acute Care Medical Center has served the San Francisco Bay Area for over 100 years.
Reporting to the Chief Nursing and Operations Officer, the Surgical and Procedural Services Director will spearhead clinical and administrative operations across the unit. The Director will be supported by a strong leadership team including an Operating Room Supervisor, a Surgery Coordinator, and two Periop Charge Nurses. Also reporting to the director is a strong Nurse Manager who oversees PreOp and PACU, as well as procedural services.
The RN Nursing Director will take over a complex set of service lines. In Perioperative, this person will lead clinical and administrative operations in this 5-sutie Operating Room Department with around 25 FTEs made up of Surgery Staff Nurses, Surgical Technologists, and support staff, that work between Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery units. In the Pre-Operation and PACU / Recovery Area, the Director will oversee a 12 FTE Testing and Recovery team that supports 8 Recovery Beds and who have a great reputation for superior patient satisfaction.
Also overseen by the Nursing Director, and in many ways related to Surgical, is a busy Procedural Services Department. This includes a busy endoscopy and day surgery program as well as an 8-chair outpatient infusion department. The latter offers chemotherapy, blood transfusions, hydration therapy, and medical infusions. Staffed by a compassionate and knowledgeable team of PICC RNs, patients frequently describe this unit as feeling like they’re at home with family.
Working in collaboration with leaders from across the hospital, the Nursing Director will be able to have immediate effects on patient care and administrative operations alike. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced OR Nurse Manager to step into the Surgical and Procedural Director role. This person will get to learn and employ valuable business skills like budget development and maintenance, human resources hiring strategy, survey readiness, and regulatory compliance.
The Nursing Director will also play an important role in the clinical operations of the Perioperative Services Department. This role will serve as an educator and mentor to the staff; someone who drives clinical performance, evidence-based practices, and compassionate patient care. This is a close knit team of nurses, and the Manager will be the glue that holds that team together and accountable.
