This state-of-the-art hospital, seeks an experienced full-time Nurse Director to lead its team of Operating Room professionals. Honored by the community for its commitment to public health, and awarded by the state for is advancements in Stroke Care and High Quality Patient Care, this Acute Care Medical Center has served the San Francisco Bay Area for over 100 years.
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer / VP Patient Care, the Perioperative OR Director will take a leading role in the administration of the unit, as well as the clinical advancement of its staff. The Director will be supported by a strong leadership team across a range of services.
- In the Operating Room, a CNOR Nurse Supervisor supports the Director by overseeing clinical operations, scheduling, and the 25 FTE Surgery Nursing Staff who work between Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery. This 5-bed OR Department keeps its schedule full between inpatient and outpatient procedures, and is known for efficient and low turnover times. This department offers a full range of procedure, from general surgery, orthopedics, and ENT, all the way to invasive radiology and endoscopy.
- In the PreOp and PACU Area, the Director is supported by a tenured CPAN Charge Nurse who oversees a 12 FTE Testing and Recovery department with PACU RNs and support staff. This unit has 8 recovery beds and an amazing staff of nurses dedicated to improving patient satisfaction before and after the procedures.
- Related to these, the Perioperative Director will oversee the Sterile Processing Department and its daily operations. Serving as the Central Sterile Unit for the whole hospital, this department typically runs a first and second shift overseen by an CRCST SPD Supervisor and staffed by a team of 9 FTEs.
- Beyond Ambulatory, or Day Surgery, the Nursing Director will also oversee staffing and operations for the Infusion Services Department. This 8-chair outpatient department offers chemotherapy, blood transfusions, hydration therapy, and medical infusions. Staffed by a compassionate and knowledgeable team of PICC RNs, patients frequently describe this unit as feeling like they’re at home with family.
Working in collaboration with leaders from across the hospital, the OR Nursing Director will be able to have immediate effects on patient care and administrative operations alike. This person will get to learn and employ valuable business skills like budget development and maintenance, human resources hiring strategy, survey readiness, and regulatory compliance.
The Nursing Director will also play an important role in the clinical operations of the Perioperative Services Department. This role will serve as an educator and mentor to the staff; someone who drives clinical performance, evidence-based practices, and compassionate patient care. This is a close knit team of nurses, and the Manager will be the glue that holds that team together and accountable.
