Reporting to the Nurse Manager Operating Room (OR), the RN Surgery Educator also works with Nurse Managers, Nurse Directors, and Nursing Staff to ensure patient standards are met in the Surgical Services Department. 3 years clinical nursing experience in surgery, or OR is required for this role, and clinical nursing education experience is preferred.
Responsibilities for this Nursing Educator include nursing education and patient education. This includes acting as a liaison between hospital, patient, and physicians. Clinical Educator Surgical Services will also alert Surgeons and Anesthesiologist regarding any abnormal lab results or medication problems, and assembles required lab, x-ray, and EKG reports on patients care pre-op. Also, the Pre-Op RN Educator will educate patients about appropriate medication prior to surgery.
