Reporting to the Vice President of Quality and Risk Management, the Risk Management Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for the strategic planning, implementation & effectiveness of a comprehensive Risk Management & Patient Safety Program across the continuum, linking the plans with the organizational vision & mission as well as leadership's goals & objectives.

The Risk Management and Patient Safety Coordinator will work closely with the hospital’s liability carrier to manage risk associated with hospital operations including lawsuits, to reduce risk where possible through proactive risk assessment and mitigation strategies and oversees the database for occurrence reporting and assures appropriate follow-up.

The ideal candidate for the Risk Management and Patient Safety Coordinator will demonstrate knowledge of quality improvement principles and practices including Lean, and rapid cycle improvement, project management, patient safety concepts, data analysis, data management, root cause analysis, and statistical process control in healthcare.

The Risk Management and Patient Safety Coordinator will have knowledge of risk management principles with ability to apply federal/state healthcare laws & accreditation standards to all settings of care.  The Risk Management and Patient Safety Coordinator should have strong interpersonal skills w/ proven ability to influence across functional lines with success in curriculum development & presentations to large groups of diverse healthcare providers.
