Averaging about 1000 procedures annually in 3 operating rooms and 1 Procedure Room, the Perioperative Services Department in this hospital is one of the busiest in the region. The CNOR Nurse Manager will lead a high-performing team in a department that offers a wide array of Surgical Procedures including Orthopedics, Gynecology, Podiatry, Eyes, and of course General Surgery. This Manager will work closely with the fantastic surgeons who perform these cases in a department that typically closes by 5pm.
Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Perioperative Nurse Manager will play a crucial role in the operations of this hospital. Supported by two Clinical Charge Nurses who oversee the Operating Room and Procedure Room, the Manager will receive the head space to think about process and quality improvements. This person will also play an important role in developing the next generation of talented nurses through supporting ongoing educational initiatives and development of new education opportunities.
As one of the medical center’s primary P/L centers, fiscal and clinical experience with the departments that make up Perioperative Services will be helpful. Experience with budgeting and clinical operations of Endoscopic Units, Post Anesthesia, SPD, and Ambulatory Surgery will mean that the Manager will be able to hit the ground running. Additionally, given the tight knit nature of this medical center and Perioperative Department, the Manager will take on rotating call duties.
This position assists in the maintenance of regulatory and licensing materials for the Surgical Services department, and the Perioperative Manager will guide policy in concert with the values and mission of the non-profit health system and medical center. You’ll also develop and implement programs to improve customer and staff satisfaction, paying attention to key metrics.
From a clinical point of view, you will serve as a subject matter expert for nursing performance improvement, skills development, and evidence-based practice education. The Nurse Manager will guide, coach, and mentor the various perioperative staff including CNOR Scrub Nurses and Circulating Nurses, PreOp and Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurses, Surgical Technologist staff, and other support staff.
