Reporting to the Director of Clinical Education and Nursing Practice, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will focus primarily on improving clinical practice in the CVICU Department specifically, and will more generally contribute to improvements in a large Critical Care Services Department. Working in close collaboration with the Director of Cardiovascular Services and the Nursing Director of Pediatric Critical Care Services, as well as a strong team of CCRN CCU Department Managers, CVICU Supervisor, and education specialists around the hospital, the CNS will play an integral role in supporting education and patient care.

The CVICU – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at this fantastic hospital has a reputation for providing great patient care, and it’s prepared for a wide array of care situations. As a center of excellence for open heart surgery, cardiology, and heart transplant, this 21-bed CVICU provides compassionate and knowledgeable care for high-acuity pediatric patients. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to this care by serving as a subject matter and practice expert for the unit.

The CVICU Clinical Nurse Specialist will work in conjunction with Pediatric Nursing Education Specialists throughout this Acute Care Medical Center to develop, implement, and evaluate educational materials especially as they relate to patient care in the Cardiovascular Services and CV Procedure Recovery Unit. In this, the CNS will promote an avid dedication to evidence-based best practices, consistent focus on superior patient-centered care, and a valuable resource for Nursing Leadership.
