The PACU Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and coordinate patient care from admission to discharge in the pre-op and post-op areas. The PACU Registered Nurse will ensure positive patient outcomes and uphold the medical center's mission. The PACU Registered Nurse will do this through providing safe and therapeutic care to all patients, regardless of age, in a timely manner. Communicating clearly is a skill the PACU Registered Nurse will have as they communicate with other departments and providers to ensure the continuum of care. The PACU Registered Nurse will specifically communicate with surgeons and anesthesiologists in this position. To do all of this, the PACU Registered Nurse will display an understanding of each patients cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturity in the assessments, treatment, and care. Communicating with the patients caregiver with post-op care information is another aspect of this position that requires strong communication skills. The PACU Registered Nurse will assume charge nurse responsibilities when needed. The PACU Registered Nurse will continually mitigate risk and cost.
