The Surgical Manager will play an important role in leading clinical and administrative operations at the Ophthalmology Clinic that’s attached to this 300+ bed Acute Care Medical Center. This Ophthalmology Clinic, regarded as one of the best in the country, has a long history of superior patient outcomes. Offering a full range of high-acuity Ophthalmology surgical procedures (including cornea transplantation, tumor excision, and pediatric cataract extraction), cosmetic procedures, and nationally recognized research, the Nursing Manager will join a specialized department that’s pushing the boundaries of vision repair.
Reporting to the Administrative Director of Perioperative Services, who oversees Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery Operations, the Ophthalmology Services Nursing Manager will take direct oversight of Pre-Operative, Intra-Operative, and Post-Operative departments at this busy Eye Surgery Center. The Manager will be supported by a strong CNOR Operating Room Charge Nurse, a CPAN PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse, two Lead RNs who oversee a team of Scrubbing and Circulating Nurses.
As the clinical and administrative leader for the Surgical Services Team, the Nursing Manager will take accountability for staff education and clinical development, budgetary development and oversight, and clinical intraoperative duties as well.
- Staff Education & Development: You’ll get to continue developing your clinical skills, while staying current with evidence-based standards, by creating and executing staff education initiatives to mentor and retain strong employees.
- Budgetary Development & Oversight: Working with financial experts, you’ll develop both capital and operational budgets that are sustainable and actionable.
- Intraoperative Duties: The Nurse Manager will get regular ‘in-suite’ clinical practice, as you circulate a large variety of procedures and ensure proper scrub technique from the staff.
