Joining the Women and Children’s service team, the Nurse Manager Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU will oversee the 40+ bed, Level IV NICU unit. With a team-orientated approach, the Nurse Manager Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU will work alongside Pediatric ICU Nurse Managers, Level II step down infant care Nurse Manager, and the Special Care Nursery Nursing Manager, reporting to the Neonatal Service Line Director.
The Nurse Manager Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU will oversee the level III and Level IV Neonatal ICU unit, managing a team of individuals specialized in caring for babies that may have been born prematurely, with birth defects, generic disorders, medical disorders, or congenital heart disease, oftentimes requiring complex care. This specialized Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU is equipped and able to care for babies needing fetal surgery extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), body cooling, hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, maintenance of systemic perfusion and management of organ failure.
Responsibilities of the Nurse Manager Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU include overseeing departmental workflow, ensuring smooth patient transitions between neonatal units, creating and managing the department budget, ensuring state and federal regulatory compliance, preparing accreditation and survey material, updating policy procedures, implementing quality performance improvement initiatives, and assisting with educational programming for new hire and current department staff.
Because the Nurse Manager Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU will be overseeing fast paced neonatal ICU, the NICU Nurse Manager should have a clinical background working in a Level 3 or Level 4 NICU with prior leadership experience.
