The Nursing Director of Medical Surgical will be working for a hospital that is part of a growing and financially stable non-profit health system. The medical center has been serving highly diverse 1.5 million residents in surrounding communities with a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services for over a century.
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Executive, the Med Surg Nurse Director will be responsible for the twenty-four (24) hour planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of Medical Surgical department in order to provide quality individualized patient care, to patients ranging from neonate to geriatric on the age continuum.
The Nurse Director of Medical Surgical will also assume fiscal responsibility for the unit budgets, serve as a liaison with medical staff and other personnel, promote the maximum growth and development of each employee, support nursing research and assure patient advocacy. The Nursing Director will have areas of responsibility encompass a Medical Surgical unit, an Orthopedic / Spine unit and Dialysis program.
The Medical Surgical Nurse Director will be managing a busy 35 bed unit and supported by tenured and skillful Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses and approximately 80 Staff Nurses. The Director of Medical Surgical Unit will be part of a team that embraces open door policy, family atmosphere and positive attitude.
