With over 9,000 births a year, this hospital is fully-equipped to care for high acuity, critically ill newborns requiring the most specialized care. This acute care hospital offers one of the largest, high-acuity Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the state, admitting almost 2,000 NICU newborns each year. The Nurse Director Neonatal ICU will oversee an 80+ bed, Level III NICU, the NICU triage area, and over 200 FTEs. The Neonatal NICU Nursing Director will be supported by Nurse Managers, Assistant Nurse Managers, Educators, and highly trained neonatal specialists including NICU registered nurses, and neonatal technicians, and will work closely with the neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nutritionists, developmentalists, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, a neonatal transportation team, designated neonatal respiratory therapists, and more. 

Responsibilities of the Nurse Director Neonatal ICU include managing the department budget, implementing strategic initiatives, updating policy procedures, ensuring state and federal compliance, collaborating with medical staff and key stakeholders to improve patient outcomes, and maintaining both internal and external working relationships across multidisciplinary teams throughout the health system. As a transformative leader for the organization, the Nurse Director Neonatal ICU will continuously promote a positive, collaborative working environment, act as a liaison and resource to their team, and maintain up to date industry knowledge about the best practices and techniques being used throughout the country. 

The Nurse Director Neonatal ICU must have prior manager or director level leadership experience overseeing a high acuity Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with a clinical background working in a Level III or Level IV NICU, hold their RN license, and have their BSN and/or MSN.
