Inpatient Laboratory Operations Manager CLS

A community medical center in the San Francisco Bay Area is currently seeking an Inpatient CLS Laboratory Operations Manager to oversee technical and administrative duties. Join this tightknit community medical-team, and help lead an experienced team of scientists and technologists.

This community hospital, in the heart of San Francisco, is actively interviewing CA Licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) candidates with Inpatient Clinical Lab experience to oversee operations for this busy department. This hospital, well-known for its dedication and long service to the communities of the Bay Area, has recently undergone an expansion to fulfill its missions. As an integral Management Partner for this community-based integrated health organization, the Laboratory Manager will work closely with leaders from many different departments and disciplines to ensure a seamless clinical experience for every patient.

Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, the CLS Operations Manager will lead clinical and technical operations at this state-of-the-art Laboratory. Supported by Lead Specialists in Hematology, Microbiology, Point of Care, and Chemistry, the Manager will oversee nearly 25 FTEs in total. In this complex laboratory environment, the Operations Manager will serve as both a clinical and technical leader, and as an educational resource for the department.

A team-based approach to this large, diverse laboratory staff is crucial for guaranteeing continued buy-in, trust, and efficiency from each member. Actively managing the Microbiologists, Hematologists, Cytotechnologists, Histologists, Phlebotomists, Chemists, and various support staff through direct coaching, team and personal development initiatives, and clear performance expectations will help the CLS Lab Manager continue the upward trajectory of quality improvement for this lab and for the health care system.
