The Infection Control Specialist Preventionist will work in a prestigious Medical Center that has been serving the surrounding community for over 100 years. The Infection Control Specialist Preventionist will be apart of the most respected and technologically advanced hospital in Southern California with the area's finest physicians on staff.  Renowned for its programs in neurosciencescardiovascular services and cancer care, the Hospital is an active teaching hospital with graduate medical education programs in internal medicine and general surgery.

Infection Control Specialist Preventionist is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation and reporting of hospital acquired infections (HAI); educating employees about infection control prevention; and the development of health system policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection control standards that meet TJC, OSHA, CMS, CDC/NHSN, California statutes and other nationally organized recommendations and requirements.

Utilizing epidemiological methods, the Infection Control Specialist Preventionist will work under the general direction of the Infection Prevention and Control Subcommittee to survey, compile and report data, and monitor trends significant epidemiological infections including resistant organisms, reportable diseases, and community infections. The Infection Control Practitioner will also educate hospital staff both nursing and ancillary in basic principles in infection prevention and control and isolation procedures.

This position requires completion of an Infection Control Program training and CIC. This position is required to be on-call. Bachelor of Science in Nursing or B.S. Medical Technology, or B.S. Biology-Medical Technology required. Master’s or doctoral degree preferred. Minimum 3 years experience in Infection Control required. Knowledge of NHSN reporting required. Current CA RN license required for Nurses . CIC required, within 2 years of hire. Computer literacy. Proficiency in use of electronic health records and infection control databases. Competent in Microsoft Office.
