A 400-bed, acute care hospital along the Hudson River is looking for an experienced Health Information Services Operations Manager to join their dynamic team!
This established acute care facility was founded over one hundred years ago and today houses nearly 400 licensed beds and offers a wide variety of medical and surgical services. This state-of-the-art medical center provides a number of patient care services including behavioral health, oncology services, cardiopulmonary and vascular services, emergency and critical care, radiology services, maternity and pediatric care, wound and home care, and much more.
The HIM Manager will manage the day to day Health Information Management operations. In the absence of the Director, the HIM Manager is responsible for the operation of the entire department and will supervise and coordinate the activities of H.I.S. Operations personnel including selection, training and evaluation. As the Health Information Manager you will assist with developing and evaluating new and existing policies and procedures to ensure that they are consistent, accurate and complete following CMS, NYSDOH, The Joint Commission and Hospital requirements and guidelines. Develop and update department workflow standards as needed and provide assistance with vision for planning, management, integration and upgrades of all H.I.S. systems. Project management for testing, workflow enhancements and training of all systems.
An ideal candidate will hold an Associates Degree/Bachelors Degree in Health Information Technology preferred. The healthcare organization would consider a current student in an AHIMA approved degree program with heavy HIM related experience including a minimum of 3 years of HIM supervisory experience. Three years of supervisory experience in the Health Information Management field with strong communication and management skills, Microsoft Office 2000 or better to include Word, Excel and Power Point. RHIT/RHIA ideal. Knowledgeable of ICD-10, CPT-4 and APC/DRG. Must work well under pressure, ability to manage staff and multiple projects, demonstrate problem solving skills and logical thinking. Strong PC skills and experience with computer systems. Strong organizational skills, careful attention to detail and knowledge of HIM workflow/processes and data collection. Must communicate well with professionals at all levels both internal and external to the organization. Participate in professional organizations including AHIMA.
