The Nurse Manager of the Emergency Room will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer. The Manager will be supported by a Nurse Supervisor within the department who will assist in scheduling and ensuring patient satisfaction. Several Charge Nurses will also be within the department to assist with any departmental needs. The Manager will have the opportunity to form interdepartmental relations with other department leaders and staff in order to ensure smooth patient care and transfers to other units. This person will also maintain relationships with the Emergency Medical Services.
The Emergency Room Nurse Manager will have the opportunity to contribute to the goals and mission of the hospital. The Manager will develop personnel and organizational systems needed to provide competitive and cost-effective services for patients. The Emergency Department provides several services such as heart attack care, sepsis care, trauma, and pediatric emergency services. The Manager will oversee both clinical and administrative duties. These duties include developing and implementing successful fiscal budgets, solving potential problems that can impede safe patient care, and meeting with executive leaders to ensure the goals of the department are being met.
