The Emergency Department Nurse Director will be employed by a national healthcare system, working at a state-of-the-art 300+ bed acute care hospital in West Virginia. This highly accredited, for-profit hospital is known for their Surgical Services department, Women and Children Services, Trauma Center, and fast pace Emergency Department that sees over 50,000 annual patients. For over 100 years, this acute care hospital has provided high quality patient care to individuals throughout southern West Virginia and North Eastern parts of Virginia.
This hospital is known for their Trauma Center and fast paced Emergency Department that is staffed 24/7 with a team of emergency physicians, nurses and specialists who are trained in providing exceptional emergency care. With Heart Attack and Stroke systems being two of the most common life-threatening emergencies, this hospital uses the newest methods and best practices and received the Chest Pain Center Accreditation with PCI from American College of Cardiology.
The Emergency Department Nurse Director will lead the fast-paced Emergency Services department with 50,000 annual visits, and report to the Chief Nursing Officer. The Emergency Department Nurse Director is supported by Nurse Managers, Educators, Charge Nurses, Staff RNs, Technicians and Ancillary Staff with over 100 FTEs. Responsibilities of the Emergency Department Nurse Director include managing department workflow, overall and day-to-day operations, department staffing, managing the budget, maintaining hospital, local, state and federal compliance, updating policy procedures, implementing quality performance improvement initiatives, staff education, cross collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ultimately being the department mentor, leader and resource.
The Nurse Director Emergency Services must hold their Registered Nurse RN license and a clinical background working in a busy emergency department, along with prior leadership experience. Ideally, the Director of Nursing Emergency Services will also hold TNCC or CEN certification.
