Most recently, this organization was granted the opportunity to redesign and develop an educational department that focused on providing the most advanced technology, tools, and educational programs to their employees. Partnering with the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Nursing Education will grow the education department through using the new simulation lab, integrating Evidence Based Practice, creating and updating new hire and current employee education programs, utilizing the ANCC Magnet framework, updating policy procedures, and developing new external partnerships while maintaining current relationships. The Director of Nursing Education will manage department budgets, ensure regulatory compliance across the organization is maintained, cross collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and create strategic short term and long term initiatives, clinical practices, and clinical educational programming across multiple specialties, including physician, physician, assistant, nursing, radiology, respiratory, rehabilitation, pharmacy, laboratory and other clinical roles. The Director of Nursing Education will have an overall understanding of the healthcare industry; recognizing potential trends while understanding how to mitigate risks and uncertainties that may arise. Additionally, the Director of Nursing Education will be a multitasker, strategic thinker, and work well with others. Additionally, the Director of Nursing Education has oversight of the clinical affiliations of schedules of nursing and the Health Science Library, and is the Magnet Program ambassador.
Ideally, the Director of Nursing Education will hold an RN license, be master’s prepared, have previous Nurse Educator experience working for an acute care facility, have previous Magnet experience, and be up to date on evidence based best practices and techniques. Additionally, this individual should have prior leadership experience with an understanding of how to manage budgets and create educational curriculum. The Director of Nursing Education will have an overall understanding of the healthcare industry; recognizing potential trends while understanding how to mitigate risks and uncertainties that may arise. Additionally, the Director of Nursing Education will be a multitasker, strategic thinker, and work well with others.
