The Perioperative Nursing Director will join a hospital that offers a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services to the region. Cardiovascular Services and Neurosciences, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, Wound Care and Oncology – all are available at this outstanding medical center in the beautiful lake and river lands of Eastern Texas.

Reporting to the Vice President of Surgical and Procedural Service Lines, the Clinical Director of Perioperative Nursing will work collaboratively with the Chief Nursing Officer, other Procedural Services Nursing Leaders, and Inpatient Hospital Directors to set departmental strategy for financial and clinical performance. Supported by 5 Clinical Nurse Leaders, including 2 CVOR Operating Room Nurse Supervisors, the Director will oversee an extremely busy and progressive department.

The Clinical Perioperative Director will find an innovative and progressive unit that feels like a close-knit family. This 12 Operating Suite department offers a wide array of procedures, so the Director will need to be a strong Nurse Leader with diverse Surgical experience. Boasting an impressive and accredited Cardiovascular Surgery Line that does over 70 hearts a day, as well as Neuro / Spine, Brain Surgery, two Hybrid rooms, and a very large Orthopedics department, this Perioperative Services Department keeps the boards full and the surgeons busy.

From a clinical standpoint, the Clinical Director will play a leading role in establishing and supporting developmental initiatives for the large Surgical Services staff. Working with the health care system’s Nurse Director of Education, you’ll develop educative initiatives and programs that will spark interest in the staff and maintain adherence to evidence-based practices. 

This Director will also serve an important role in the administrative operations of the Perioperative Services Department. You’ll spearhead development and maintenance of staffing policies and procedures, as well as taking a lead in developing and monitoring the departmental annual budgets. Strong experience in budgeting and staffing policy and procedure, as well as experience applying LEAN management techniques will help secure the financial future of the department.
