An exciting opportunity awaits a Certified Nurse Midwife seeking a leadership position as the Clinical Director of the Midwifery service line. The Clinical Director of Midwifery will enjoy working from a beautiful stand alone 3 story clinic ten minutes from the medical campus. The Clinical Director of Midwifery will oversee birthing and lactation services at the clinic in accordance with the guidelines of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers, Collaborating Physician, and North Carolina state regulations. The Clinical Director of Midwifery will also be responsible for supervision of 7 Certified Nurse Midwives and the clinical functions, training and evaluation of birth center and lactation staff, as well as program development, evaluation and quality assurance activities related to birthing and lactation services. The birthing center offers midwifery-led prenatal care, birth center & water birth, lactation services, primary care, just for teens care, same day acute care, classes and support groups.
Qualifications for the role include:
- Board Certification by professional board (American Midwifery Certification Board)
- Currently hold or have the ability to apply and maintain UNC Hospital privileges
- Current NC APRN (NP, CNM, etc) license
- Current approval to practice granted by the North Carolina Midwifery Joint Committee or Board of Nursing
- Minimum five years experience of practice—including out-of-hospital / birth center experience
- Minimum three years management and/or supervisory experience
The Clinical Director of Midwifery will have 25% clinical work and 75% administrative. The Clinical Director of Midwifery will also be responsible for maintaining the annual budget and attend board meetings. Also key is the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with primary care director, collaborating physician as well as other consultants as well as additional care providers, participate in client group meetings as necessary and serve as consultant to outside agencies regarding advanced practice nursing, midwifery, and birth centers.
