A public teaching hospital in Northern California is seeking an experienced BC Thoracic Surgeon MD.
This 200 bed hospital is a general acute care facility providing a full range of inpatient services including general medical/surgical care, high risk obstetrics, NICU, pediatrics, acute physical medicine and rehabilitation. The hospital serves as the only trauma center, primary stroke center and the county's EMS base station. The hospital has trained over 5000 physicans and a variety of health professions to include RNs, LVNs, Pharmacists, Rad Techs, Social Workers and Respiratory Therapists.
The Surgeon MD will have the opportunity to join an established Level III Trauma hospital that offers a wide range of services to the residents. The Surgeon will be the leader of the surgical team utilizing the hospital's new da Vinci Xi robotic surgery technology. The MD must make important decisions about patients health, safety and welfare during the course of an operation.
The Surgeon must ensure that they have the cooperation of other team members to include another MD or qualified person to act as the assistant, the anesthesiologist and operating room nurses. The MD will counsel patients on risk of surgery and potential complications during post op. The Surgeon will perform post-op examinations for patients prior to discharge and have follow up visits to ensure continuing health. The Surgeon must be board certified in the state of California.
