Pediatric ICU Assistant Nurse Director

 

An academic medical center in scenic southern Tennessee is looking for an experienced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse Leader.

The Pediatric ICU Assistant Director will join a one of Tennessee’s most well-regarded healthcare systems. It carries the state’s highest designation for pediatrics and neonatal care. It’s a level of care for children often found only in Major US cities but is available in beautiful Southern Tennessee.

 

This role will provide a PICU Nurse leader with the rare opportunity to play a large part in the planning, design and opening of a new Children’s Hospital!

Reporting directly to the Pediatric Nurse Director, the Assistant Director of PICU will be well-supported by Assistant Nurse Managers, a PICU Clinical Nurse Specialist, and a dedicated PICU nursing staff.

This nationally-ranked PICU is a top referral center for the region and cares for the sickest pediatric patients. Types of cases commonly seen in this high-acuity Pediatric ICU include organ system failure, organ transplant, complex chronic illness, and children recovering from heart, neuro, and orthopedic surgery.

The PICU Assistant Director will collaborate with the PICU Clinical Nurse Specialist, Medical Director, Physicians, and clinical staff to manage, assess, and enhance patient care. The Nurse Manager Pediatric Critical Care PICU will provide guidance on nursing practice, hiring and retention, budgeting and quality improvement.

The ideal candidate has clinical experience in a fast-paced PICU setting. Previous Cardiac experience is a plus, but not required. The Assistant Director will bring their clinical expertise to several long-term projects including throughput and overall length of stay, patient safety, staff engagement, and patient/staff satisfaction.
