Infection Prevention Control Specialist

An exciting growth opportunity has recently opened for an Infection Prevention and Control Specialist at this trusted Acute Care community hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area. Join an organization that's known for high-quality patient care, and play an important role in keeping the population safe and healthy.

The Infection Prevention Control Specialist will discover an environment of collaboration, communication, and compassionate care at this SF Bay Area acute care medical center. The Infection Prevention Specialist will join a facility that’s received recognition from the Joint Commission and the community on its high-quality outcomes and patient satisfaction, along with an A grade from Leapfrog. Amazingly, this hospital also offers valuable community resources like health education, senior services, and volunteer opportunities.

The Infection Prevention Specialist will play a direct and critical role in keeping the hospital’s patient and employees safe, as well as an indirect role in supporting the health and well-being of the community. Reporting to the Director of Quality, Risk, and Accreditation, the Infection Prevention and Control Specialist will provide a wide range of clinical and administrative support to leaders from within the organization and across boundaries.

A background in Inpatient Quality Control and Clinical Education are typical indicators of a successful Infection Preventionist, but someone who carries one of the applicable certifications, including CIC (Certified Board of Infection Control), CHIP (Certification in Healthcare Infection Prevention and Control), and/or APIC (Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology), will also present as a strong candidate.

Working with administrative leaders, clinical leaders, and thought leaders from around the organization and community, the Inpatient Infection Prevention Specialist will fulfill the important roles of metric development and program execution. Collecting historical and statistical data, as well as pertinent ancillary information from each department, this person will spearhead the creation of targeted infection goals. On the other side of this, you’ll serve as an educator, mentor, and analyst in creating execution plans to meet those targets, decreasing event frequency and improving community health.

The artistic type, the gourmand, the outdoors person, and the home-body will all find something comforting about living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Contemporary street art, murals, galleries, and public installations adorn the streets just about everywhere you look. Hundreds of acres of coastline, nature trails, and parkland surround one of California’s most beautiful cities. With Silicon Valley and San Jose a short distance to the south, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and some of California’s best primary schools, the Bay Area is a great place for the Infection Control and Prevention Specialist to build a community and continue learning. Connected by Bay Area Rapid Transit and one of the nation’s best networks of buses and light-rails, you’ll find that it’s easy to get where ever you’re going.

The Infection Prevention and Control Specialist will have a large support network within the hospital, from executive leadership to front-line nursing staff. You’ll have a large responsibility of the quality and efficiency of the medical center’s operations and mission, but that’s exactly how you like it. You’ll also be supported by a generous benefits package and a competitive compensation.
